The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Jorg Hysek

In our previous article, The Connoisseurs, we wrote about our own experience with Jorg Hysek, renowned Swiss watch and writing instrument designer. It seems fitting to also tell the story of his creations here, and give you the opportunity to explore the world of Jorg Hysek.
The design began as Jorg Hysek's own exploration, playing with shapes and designs. Striking upon the purity of a long, cylindrical shape, Jorg seemingly drew it again and again. Unmoved by convention and what was already available on the market, Jorg Hysek retained the iconic clip-less shape of his design, resolving the problem of how to carry his creation by designing a leather pouch with a clip in which the pens could be placed.

Now joined by a line-up of new models, Jorg Hysek writing instruments are perhaps not as well known as Montblanc or Cross, but should bear a legendary status among serious collectors as a style icon which defied convention and bore to the world one man's dream. These writing instruments and Jorg Hysek's own time pieces are available for full view at the Hysek website, which is recommended not only for those interested in purchasing one, but for those seeking an education in the evolution of both classical and industrial design.

Having moved on from the brand he created, Jorg Hysek is now making his creations available to those who seek him out as an artist and watchmaker. His watch related acrylic art and unique time pieces are available from the master, himself, and can be viewed at Hysek Design. For watch collectors in particular, this is a unique opportunity to own a work created by the man who designed some of the most recognizable watches of our age.
