Featured Ink: Cartier Blue
The best things are not easy to find. This was our experience in searching for the best fountain pen inks, as we specially ordered a bottle of Cartier's classical blue fountain pen ink, and had it shipped to us from Europe. Not readily found in North America, but available from boutiques by special order, Cartier’s fountain pen inks remind their users of Cartier's heritage as France's premier jeweller and luxury goods maker. Its rich texture and viscosity distinguish Cartier's blue ink from both watery and pigment heavy inks, and give it a deep blue colour without over saturation. It is this light pigmentation and dense texture which gives the ink a lustrous quality, allowing the ink to be dark in colour yet bright on the page – for the best paper we recommend reading our article entitled: Pages of History: The Best Stationery from Ancient Mills.
Made in Austria, well known as a source of the world’s best fountain pen inks, this ink is complimented with a beautiful, high quality glass bottle which is made in France. The bottle features a rim-like spout for refilling an inkwell, and it should be noted that pens cannot be bottle-filled from the bottle’s small opening. However, an inkwell may be a worthwhile investment for this magnificent blue ink, which is also available in ink cartridge form. From the formulation of this ink to the bottle which carries it, the thoughtfulness and care that went into the development of this product and how it would be used shows why we return to Cartier again and again for the accessories which bring enchantment to our daily rituals.
Cartier's fountain pen inks are available in black, burgundy and blue; and in both bottle or ink cartridge form.
