Said to be inspired by the shape of an Aztec atlatl, used by Aztecs to throw spears, the hammered metal barrel cap invokes the obsidian blade of an Aztec sacrificial knife. On the 18 karat gold nib is an engraving of the Aztec glyph for the city of Tenochtitlán, present day Mexico City.
