A Message from Nino Marino
It is with great pleasure that THE CIRCLE | VANCOUVER presents to the fine writing instrument collecting community in Vancouver a personal letter, written to us by Nino Marino, co-founder and President of Delta, and presently the President of the Maiora Pen Company and Nettuno 1911. From one fountain pen lover to another, here is his message:
To the fountain pen enthusiasts and collectors of Vancouver,
I am Nino Marino, and I have been working in the fountain pen industry for over 40 years. I live and work in Naples, Italy, and my passion for fountain pens originated in 1978, when I was only 20 years old and was studying engineering.
In 1982, I founded DELTA, a fountain pen brand well known and appreciated worldwide for its quality and style. I headed DELTA for 36 years, until its closure in 2017.
But the story continues… In January 2018 I founded the Maiora Pen Company, to continue producing beautiful fountain pens. My wish for the new born Maiora Pen Company is for it to prosper and endure. I am particularly thankful for one of my partners, Gianfranco Raimo, a 35-year-old young man, and my children, to whom I will pass on all my experience, so that they will be able to continue running the Maiora Pen Company after I am gone.
Immediately after its foundation, the Maiora Pen Company acquired the oldest Italian fountain pen brand, Nettuno 1911, a brand already registered in the year 1911. Today, the Maiora and Nettuno 1911 brands are available internationally, and have been well received by enthusiasts and collectors of fine fountain pens around the world.
The Maiora Pen Company is comprised of a team with specialized skills, which has made its own indelible imprint on the luxury writing instrument industry with over 40 years of experience. Maiora respects the tradition represented by the words “Made in Italy”, and also remains faithful to its own unique vision and style, in a perfect balance between elegance and function. These are the strengths of Maiora: experience, passion and enthusiasm.
Maiora and Nettuno writing instruments are turned from solid bars and finished with polished or matte surfaces. All pens are provided with a screw-down cap. Clips are machined from solid pieces of pure brass, worked by hand to obtain a precious contrast of polished and matte surfaces, and finished in either gold, rose gold, rhodium or black rhodium. The filling system is a "Converter Special", using a threaded converter that allows the pen to be filled like a standard piston filled fountain pen. Embellished by a gold or rhodium plated metal cover and engraved with a company trademark, the converter can be accessed by unscrewing the blind cap (located at the bottom of the pen barrel) to activate the piston. The use of standard cartridges is also possible. Nibs and nib units are from JOWO / Germany, engraved with our trademarks, and are available in EF, F, M, B and Stub 1.5. 18 kt gold nibs are also available in EF, F, M and B. All our products come with a lifetime international warranty certificate.
Dear fountain pen enthusiasts, collectors and friends, thank-you for taking the time to read my message. I invite you to discover our brands and choose your pen, with which you may write your own story.
Sincerely,
Nino Marino
