Three Limited Edition Fountain Pens from Itallian Penmaker Montegrappa

Celebrating the 200th anniversary
of the discovery of the Venus de Milo, Montegrappa has captured the detail and
nuance of the beloved goddess using 3D scanning and special moulds which allow
for the representation of high-resolution detail. Filled with a clay made from an
ultra-fine marble flour, these moulds are then removed to reveal an extraordinarily
smooth surface, distinct from that of engraved stone. Available with either museum-grade
bronze or 18-karat yellow gold fittings, the Venus de Milo’s metal
hardware bears filigree engraving in the Romanesque style.
This
tribute to the goddess of beauty, whose form bears the scars of time, reminds
us that true beauty is not confined to ages and is not driven by trends. A
timeless piece, whose subject is still relevant, resonant and aspirational to
us after Millenia, the Venus de Milo shows what true modernity is: the advancement
of technology and innovation applied for the creation of beauty and the preservation
of the eternal.

Recognizing the finest cognacs, aged beyond the scale of grades set
out by the Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac (BNIC), Hors
d'âge literally means, ‘Beyond Age’, and is often used to signify a
superlative cognac. Produced in a Limited Edition series of only 50, the Hors d’Age is made from oak wood, like the Limousin
and Tronçais barrels used to age the precious digestif. Decorated
with a pyrogravure vintage grapevine motif, the Hors d’Age is
accented by Montegrappa’s characteristic solid sterling silver fittings.

Commemorating
the 500th anniversary of the death of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino,
known to us commonly as Raphael, Montegrappa has created a limited edition
series of five models named, Rafaello. Following in their Genio
Creativo series, which has previously honoured Stradivarius, Dalí and da
Vinci, Rafaello is a monumental creation from the great Itallian penmaking
house. Reported to be among the most time-consuming products made in
Montegrappa’s 108-year history, each piece requires weeks to complete, being
hand painted by miniaturist and museum restorer, Alessandra Malesan. With solid
sterling fittings and decoration inspired by the friezes and stuccos in the
Vatican’s Raphael rooms, this impressive collectors’ piece is, itself, a masterpiece
of historic proportions.
